2.5 stars.

I almost didn't rate this book. Almost. Then the lame ending and I had to write this review.

The only and only reason I read this book through was that I liked the female characters. All of them. Kacey, Livie, Storm, and Mia. And as much as I liked them I hated Trent.

This guy, Trent, gets away with everything because - wait for it - he's smoking hot. Huh?! He's a stalker, he messes with the already messed up Kacey and its all fine because he's built like a greek God and has gorgeous blue eyes. Oh lets not forget the fact that he's mysteriously loaded. What's Tucker trying to say? Its okay for a guy to stalk you if he's great looking? And what about him makes Kacey lose her guard exactly? She doesn't come across as a shallow character, so why that insta-attraction? And how does he maintain those "washboard-fab abs" anyway? All he does is hang around Kacey all day. We don't see him work out or work.

I like that Kacey's issues were treated seriously and there was a twist I didn't see coming that knocked me for a six. Other than that there's nothing to write home about. Of course, lets not forget the convenient, happy ending. God forbid the book end in any other manner.

The book had so much potential. It could've been something you know and it makes me inexplicably angry to see that go waste. Unfortunately, I have to read the next one, Livie you know? Won't be expecting much from it though.

If translated Japanese fiction were a movie, Keigo Higashino would be the star. Hands down.

At first Malice appears to be a straightforward murder mystery focusing on "why it was done", but as you plough on it throws so many bouncers it leaves you reeling. Its rather refreshing to read a mystery and have all your predictions and theories shot to hell. In fact I cannot remember the last time I read a book had so many smart red herrings woven into the narration.

My only complaint is the simplistic prose. It sort of softens what could otherwise have been a mind-numbing blow. However, its a minor complaint, considering how immensely I enjoyed the book. Cannot wait to get my hands on the other works by this author.

Special note - Alexander O' Smith. Thanks for the translation!

I finished it! Oh. My. God!

I rarely stop reading a book, even if I am not enjoying it. And this book required herculean effort to get through (I took a month to read it. A month.)To say I found this last installment of what I believe is Roberts' worst trilogy by far is an understatement. There were times when I felt I couldn't or rather wouldn't finish the book. From the go it was a drag. Rehashed storyline, terrible writing and worst heroine in the history of heroines ever.

Its been a little more than a decade since I first read Carolina Moon, my introduction to Nora Roberts and then I couldn't stop reading her books. She wrote bright, sunny romances with lyrical prose. She kept writing, I kept reading. Her heroines were everything I wanted to be (feisty Debby/Maggie, sweet Brie, haunted Tory, proper Sarah) and she made me fall in love with love and the idea of travelling the world. Since Black Hills, however, I've been falling out of love and Blood Magick was the last straw.

It is the worst form of torture Roberts could've inflicted upon her fans. The plot and the characters are caricatures which mock the much better (and loved) Three Sisters trilogy. I know her plots tend to get familiar and convenient (three brothers, best friends, keeping relations in a circle, blah, blha, blah)Seriously, who are all you people rating this book four stars? Did the language not get to you?Such lazy writing. I wanted to murder someone. I mean - "if you're wanting a biscuit we'd best clear it with herself first" he told the dog. The dog! Who speaks like that to a DOG!!!!!!!!! It isn't even archaic. Its just awful grammar (another gem - "Sure I will as it looks delicious, but not just yet". Face. Palm. Twice.)

I know I am ranting. But I cannot help it. I've read her all her books. The Bride Quartet was lovely, but I cannot take this anymore. I am officially quitting Nora Roberts. No way in hell am I reading any of her forthcoming novels and if I can, will prevent others from doing so. As I mote so it will be.

Dear Nora, if you're reading this, know that in me you now have a disillusioned and heartbroken fan. I want so much more than you're prepared to offer. This is it. Please do not write books anymore.
