"Their home was invaded. They would respond." And respond they did.
This novella was such a remarkably chilling account of an encounter with the most un-disney like mermaids. Mira Grant certainly knows how to scare the living daylights out of you.
A must read for all horror fiction fans!!

The Nightingale sang and what a beautifully heartbreaking melody it was.
First off, I love the book cover - white and red with creepy vine thingies and a creepier looking house. Absolutely irresistible.
Secondly, David Mitchell is a brilliantly whacky writer who's the master of fantastical-weird. The worlds he builds and the characters he creates are a perfect blend of literary genius and plain out eerie. Having said that, Slade House's got to be his easiest and wittiest, not to mention shortest read (Bone Clocks while fabulous was challenging to read). My only complaint is that it wasn't scary. It holds you enthralled but it doesn't scare you senseless.
Any which way, if you enjoy fiction that annihilates the boundaries of imagination, (and if you've liked Bone Clocks), don't miss Slade House.
