*Trilogy Review

Quite possibly one of my favourite trilogies of all time (thus far): the Red Rising Trilogy by Pierce Brown; yes, Brown, not to be confused with actor Pierce Brosnan. (Although if James Bond ever wrote a book about a revolution on Mars I'd probably read that too).

Now, I am aware that technically it is a hexalogy, but gather ‘round children: when I first read it, it was a trilogy. And so, in my heart of hearts, a trilogy it shall forever remain. Was I obsessed? Perhaps. Am I still obsessed? Absolutely.

The story: stellar.
The characters: love at first sight.
There’s death, injustice, betrayal, and enough plotting and planning to make any woman swoon. And yet, in the midst of all the chaos, there remains a glimmer of hope.

No notes.

Full Review

The first few chapters feel a bit like a debut novel—because it is—but fret not, it gets better. Really. By chapter four, the story hits its stride and only goes up from there. It’s fast-paced, sprinkled with chuckle-worthy dialogue, and throws in just enough twists to keep things interesting. The plot alternates between two storylines: one darker and more mysterious, the other lighter but equally captivating. Stick with it. Would recommend.
