The storyline seemed nonexistent, and I struggled with how Persephone was portrayed. It was not an enjoyable read.

The storyline was a bit slow at times, even seemingly so when there were big events occurring. The fantasy world seemed well created and unique. I loved the characters, particularly Iko- I wish there was more of her as a character. The weaving of fairytale with the technical focus was intriguing too.

It was a cute holiday read. There are so many characters in the series that it was becoming a bit confusing to keep everyone straight. There was some predictability to the writing, which I generally expect from this read.

It was a bit slow to start, and I kept waiting for something more material to happen. There was quite a bit of backstory and character history to provide, which slowed some of the pace. About half way through, the pace considerably picked up. I found the characters intriguing and well developed. The fantasy components were well created and thought out.

Although a bit slow at the start, the storyline picks up quickly about a third of the way through. The writing kept you inquired as to hidden meanings behind the words and wanting to undercover the secrets that were clearly present. I loved the sass and sarcasm present by the character who reveals all (no spoilers on who!). The characters were developed, to show each’s colorful nature. The magical themes were cleverly depicted.

I really enjoy the storyline. It begins to pull some of the larger context pieces together. I love getting to see characters that haven’t been around in a while too. The images are well thought out and so detailed.

It was okay… I don’t feel like there was anything particularly standout with this read. I was content with the writing and characters, but it’s not necessarily a book that I will be returning to. I will say that I enjoyed the mysterious aspects and am curious where future books will go.

The plot line felt forced and the writing stereotypical. Despite being a novella, there were numerous areas to improve upon.

This is one of the best mystery books that I’ve come across in a LONG time! It was beautifully written and the plot was to die for! The twists and turns were completely unpredictable. The characters, despite there being three POVs, were well developed. Switches between POV was flawless. I couldn’t ask for more from a book. I would recommend this to any mystery fan!!!
