Coming back to leave a more thorough review. I need time to process that random cliffhanger and the numerous grammatical errors. However, if you're looking for a spicy book, this isn't that spicy. It is a why choose, insta love. It's very much a 🌶/5. Maybe .5 even.

This jumped straight into the story, no foreplay, straight and to the point. Other than the MMC being kind and protective and loyal, he doesn't seem to have much of a personality. We don't learn much about them romantically. They have a decent physical chemistry but that's about it. It was difficult to really feel attached to either character. They just fell flat.

I feel like I read half a book after kind of figuring out was going on, but then the twist happened and someone took away the book.

Twist and cliffhanger at once. And supposed the next book doesn't come out until June 2025? But this has been out since 2021. It's not a long book so I'm not quite understanding why the long wait between books.

The cliffhanger!
I like Kitt and Iris. I'm so happy that she isn't one of those whiny FMCs. She's brave and focused. She did something with herself and it's inspiring despite the difficult times.

I put this book down several times because the beginning bored me to tears. I called the obviousness of several things. The foreshadowing wasn't subtle in my opinion. I like the characters for the most part. Just some things just feel ugh, out of character or too obvious or too cliche. Some interactions just felt forced and unnatural, not necessarily with the main characters but in general. I was just expecting so much more interesting plot than this with all the hype that was going around for it.

Just overall was a meh book for me. I liked the main character, wasnt a fan of the love interest. He just fell short compared some other book boyfriends, in my opinion. I'll still read the 2nd book. Eventually.
