Vow of Thieves has all the elements of a fun fantasy romance. Some light torture and impactful vows. Full of loyalty, love and found family. The only thing I’d ask for more of is a dash more of villainous behavior and treachery. Poisonous Dogs were a nice touch. I mean these dog are the true chaos and heros of this story.

I rarely give books a low ranking but this book was almost a DNF for me. The characters were poorly written and the events leading to the ”Twist“ were mundane and boring. None of the supporting characters added to the story and the more the author tried to make the characters relatable or endearing the more they became a hard pill to swallow. The story follows as an antsy introduction, two characters meet, some inappropriate flirtation. Fake unease on the part of the female protagonist, more drama for the sake of drama, jealousy and family fighting and then boom we’re supposed to be surprised on the last day when both characters are rotten apples. Like I’m glad that the innocent guest prior to Grace was okay, but you can’t redeem the poor writing and lack of research. The sheriff had plenty of reasonable suspicion to arrest what’s his name plenty of times. The sheriff was horrible at his job and honestly needs to be held accountable for the fact that the Host had gotten away with murder not once but thrice. Yep it was by Grace alone that his sins were answered for. But this book was neither thrilling nor surprising. For that I would not recommend it.
