Definitely one of my favorite podcasts! I’m currently listening to it for a second time. I have seen several reviewers criticize QCODE’s Borrasca for being gross and for “relyinf on shock factor.” These are definitely valid comments, but I think Borrasca is still very much worth listening to. It is advertised as being focused on a small town’s urban legend surrounding the dozens of girls who have gone missing throughout the past decade. As the story unravels, a much darker truth is revealed, reminding listeners that sometimes reality is even more terrifying than fiction. QCODE doesn’t give any super specific trigger/content warnings, but they do give general ones at the start of each episode. Detailed trigger/content warnings may spoil the narrative a bit, but I’ll be leaving some below for anyone who may be interested.

List of trigger/content warnings:
- sexual abuse, rape
- human trafficking
- adult language
- drug use
- alcohol consumption
- child predators
- general misogyny

Again, I think this podcast is definitely worth the listen! However, if you’re sensitive to any of the above topics I would advise against listening. Borrasca is not simply a story being retold, but an immersive experience including performances that could potentially be triggering.

Love the LGBT representation and coming of age aspects! I found it so hard to put down this book. It is very well written and felt like a return to the old YA dystopian books I personally grew up on. If you’re wondering what books this one is similar to, I’d say it’s most similar to Percy Jackson, The Hunger Games, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The ending also sets the plot up for another book!
