Okay, so I was today years old when I realized that I actually was familiar with this story. I thought the plot sounded familiar when I requested the book. Come to find out, this is the manga that the movie starring Hyde, called Last Quarter, is based off of! I had no clue that it was a manga! I really enjoyed the first volume, though the 2004 movie does take some liberties. I like the exploration of death and liminal spaces. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for the rest of the English volumes as the come out.

WebToon always has such great comics! I really enjoyed this first installment of Suitor Armor. I think the premise is fun and the Armor Knight reminds me so much of Full Metal Alchemist! The art work is engaging and the panels are easy to follow. I'm excited to learn more about the Fairy Wars in future volumes!

Big thanks to Poisoned Pen Press for providing a copy of this book! It kept me deliciously confused until the big reveal. The web of mystery had me pushing through, trying to untangle it. With unreliable narrators, it was hard to know who to trust. Is Lenora so mentally unwell that she could commit murder? Is Cassie just as bad as her sister? Whose story are we glimpsing in the past—the twins'? Nothing is as it seems, and I was on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Highly recommend giving it a go!

This was my second experience with Dawn Kurtagich's work, and I was pleasantly surprised! I really enjoyed this book. Having read numerous retellings and reimaginings of Bram Stoker's Dracula, ranging from so-so to great, I would place this one between good and great. I loved the reimagining of Mina Murray as a psychiatrist and the way the women took center stage in the story. The gender-bending of characters like Renfield and Quincey added an intriguing twist. I won’t delve too much into the details because the twists and turns are part of what makes this book so enjoyable. It's definitely a strong addition to the world of vampire stories.

This book took a while to grow on me, but by the time I reached the end, I was thoroughly enjoying it. I appreciated the inclusion of well-known Dominican horror characters like Jupias, Biembienes, Galipotes, and more. These were new to me before reading, and I had a great time researching them further! Additionally, books that offer chapters with different POVs always catch my interest. It was refreshing to delve into the minds of each character and understand their motivations—definitely one of my favorite narrative styles. The premise of a horror theme park was intriguing, providing plenty of scares and atmospheric writing. If you enjoy horror, multi-POV storytelling, and mystery, I highly recommend giving this book a read!

I picked this one up because Neil Gaiman gave it a great review and I have always enjoyed Gillen's other graphic novels. The artwork was stunning and the story was beautiful. The story is a mystery but the theme comes down to what it means to be connected and loved - sometimes the family we get is the family we create for ourselves. Having the main character be someone who went through the foster system and was untrusting played perfectly into the story that I think Gillen was trying to create.

When I saw Brian K. Vaughn and Joe Hill giving this one praise I obliviously needed to pick it up right away! This one did not disappoint! The art style was fantastic - moving from full color to more of just reds/blacks/yellows when talking about the present and past was amazing. The entire story reminded me heavily of a modern Salem Witch Trials. The Satanic Six were just like the group of young girls that started to point fingers at fellow villagers accusing them of witchcraft. I wonder if the authors drew that parallel as well. I highly recommend adding this one to your TBR!
