this book was fine, it has its strengths but also weaknesses.

so a few things that I loved and were very intrigruing:
- the historical setting
- the familiar/friendship/love relationships between the characters
- the writing style

some things that I did not like
- the pacing was super weird (I don't mind irregular timelines but it wasn't done that well)
- the main character (I did not like him and not in a 'morally grey' way i just did not understand his actions and how he behaved)
-
"the plot point of 'you will find what you are looking for when you least expect it" vibe but because of the super weird time jumps the effect was totally lost in my opinion

I should have probably started with the author's two other books that were shortlisted for the Booker's prize instead of the one that wasn't lol. I will probably read more of his books, I loved learning so much about the biafrian movement.

very interesting read, it's thoroughly researched. I would say I don't fully agree with the general thesis of his book, I can definitely put that aside and see the value that his thesis brings to a lot of people (especially people in the West).
