The characters were so quirky that they were weird... And, as much as Mallory's life was full of tension, I wasn't on the edge of my seat. Mallory used to be a chess pro yet she's surprised by how chess works.... Just wasn't feeling this one.

I'm just not feeling this one... The first bit was good but it got too cliché. Like the MC is "oh so tragically ugly" and of course the handsomest boy in handsome town finds her to be the most attractive girl in the world... Also her virginity became a plot point, which I wasn't into. The magic system was weird too. There were other factors at play that I just wasn't interested in.
