I had high hopes going into this book when I read the premise but overall it was just okay. While I liked some aspects of it, there was a lack of world building to the point where half the time I didn't know what was happening whenever 'dead world' was mentioned. And maybe because the book was shorter (just shy of 250 pages) the characters didn't feel as developed. However it was refreshing to see a black gay character.

This book will destroy you in the best way possible. I'm recommending this book to anyone and everyone; it was BEAUTIFUL. (Would definitely heed the warnings though)

This is what every sad gay booktok book wishes it was. Genuinely made me sob. This might be better than the authors first novel. This book is grief incarnate and was difficult to read because of that but damn if it isn't a necessary read.
