What I loved the most of this novel, the stream of consciousness style of writing. It was like being in the author's head, the author's confused, disjointed, unsure memories. I enjoyed this style because it felt like being in my own head, where all of these thoughts and memories intermingle and lose track. It felt like how I feel when I'm unsure of my own memories, it was such an interesting way to listen to someone's story

Oh my god this book dragged. I was deeply annoyed by the lack of follow-through, you create this fluffy romance that I am completely ok with and while I was aware of the political strife through the first book, it became the main theme in this book and I just found it completely exhausting. Further, the magic system was a background story in the first book and again the main plot point in this story. Getting through all of the obstacles was dragging and the final scene was so annoying. All I can say is the poetry and writing style was good.

It's fine for what it is (porn).

If you are looking for cover-to-cover PNR spice. This book is fine for that but overall the book has a lot to be desired as an entire novel. First and foremost, for cover-to-cover PNR spice it is way too long. It tries to wrap things up in a pretty little bow at the end and it does that but it just doesn't feel satisfying as an entire plot. The characters in my opinion lack a lot of intimacy outside of the spice. We don't start to get their backstories individually until the middle of the book and following every sad traumatic event is a spice scene, a lot of which were kind of dark and brutal. The fact that these backstories were in the middle of the book but she's already madly in love with them and they would do anything for her before there is any emotional intimacy kind of threw me out of even caring about their backstories.

The writing style is something I really struggled with, it is very similar to Den of Vipers and gave me wattpad fan fiction vibes without a lot of interest. Furthermore, the only characters with any true development is Lycus and Althea. Lycus in that he learned to love himself and his beast and Althea as a judge. The rest of the characters just were and there was this lack of awareness towards the character development in every but Nathair. The rest of them are like "I couldn't have even imagined a life like this before you" but they are exactly who they had always been in everything but their relationship with Althea. Just felt very meh overall reading this and didn't really care to finish it, although I did

This was just meh, the ending is good but the rest of the book is very predictable. It follows the same YA format and doesn't really do anything different. It was decently written but just nothing memorable about it. The characters felt very 1 note throughout.
