Amazing writing

This book is written in a way that keeps you on the edge of your seat. It really is a gripping story that keeps you enthralled needing to know what happens next. Jane and her past and her character progression is amazingly written and she is relatable. Evan is somehow enticing as all hell but sinister and you become almost nervous to know more. His story continues changing and will you ever trust him? Who knows? The main reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I felt the ending wrapped up a little too neatly in my opinion, I don't want to give spoilers but I wanted a bit more conflict in the ending. The build up to the climax was so much like a rollercoaster of emotion, I hoped for more of an ending with less of a bow.

My favorite thing about this book is the writing style, it's fast paced and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The character progression was well done and while Jude was not my favorite protagonist in the beginning, she grows on you.

I was hoping for more romance, I wanted a bit more flushed out in the enemies to romance trope. I am hoping to find that in the second and third book. I'm also unsure about the twist ending, Jude has no way to know how Cardan will feel about abdicating the throne and that seemed like a foolish, not well thought our plan. I'm genuinely curious to know how this all plays out so on to Wicked King I go!

I can't this book is so good. I don't even know how to review, it's delicious, spicy, so freaking good. And now I have to wait for the 3rd book to come in the mail and I don't know how I can do that.

So this is even better than From Blood and Ash. I wanted her to have more time with Nyktos but god damn the progression was so fast paced.

I feel very conflicted about this book, the last 50 or so pages were amazing but throughout most of the book I found myself so annoyed with Persephone, she was just so stubborn and she was hurting Hades because of her own selfishness and that didn't feel like the same Persephone from the first book. She read very immaturely and that was a large frustration for me. However, I still enjoyed every other character, Hades especially. I'm hoping for redemption in my feelings for Persephone in the 3rd book. I think this book had some growing pains.

I enjoyed Persephone growing in her power but something about this book just didn't click as well as the first book. I felt like we were missing a lot of Hades feelings and I think it's disjointed because of the other books from his perspective. And while I understand wanting people to read the other novels it shouldn't leave this book feeling incomplete.
