And Then He Sang a Lullaby by Ani Kayode Somtochukwu
Thank you netgalley for providing me an ARC in exchange of an honest review.
6.3% into this book and I'm afraid I'll stop here (DNF). The book started off with scenes of pregnancy/birth + complications. Those are major triggers i have which make me feel too uncomfortable to keep reading. And by the looks of it, the book has long chapters and long paragraphs which make it even harder for me to continue.

Your Gender Book: Helping You to Be You! by Ben Pechey
4.0
This book is great for anyone (young*) and new to the LGBT+ community. Its great for the starters because this book is specifically made to make you question the traditional view of gender. (*Added "young" because this book is targeted for 7-12 kids, and that can be noticed through the use of language).
Even for me though, a more experienced queer, i could find new information, and im talking about the prominent representation of queer activists and role models.
This book can be picked up by anyone who feels lonely or isolated from the queer community. The author has a way with their words which makes you feel like you're listening to a caring parental figure, and that was oddly affirming.
Only 2 complaints: 1. I felt like the subject of "time" was being unnecessarily repeated in more than one chapter. And 2. I would've appreciated a short mention of how polyamory can be a queer identity and how that's an equally valid type of relationship some people engage in.
4.5/5 (rounded to 4)
TL;DR: Good emotional support book for young and lonely questioning queers.

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Dnf at chapter 1.
Like most classics I've read before: boring. Maybe the genre is not for me and i should give up on it

I think the amount of people dnf'ing this book is concerning and i feel like if i push through it I'll end up in a reading slump, so after 9 chapters of complete boredom and "when is it gonna get interesting" I decided to stop here.
So far, nothing is remarkable. The characters piss me off I don't wanna see any romance between them, poly or otherwise (snobby, "looks old enough to be mistaken as a professor" Ramsay and always angry "fuck elitism" Ash; if someone discovered any compensatory good traits in these ppl, pls tell me)

A well-written book about alcohol addiction, relationships, family, identity and choosing your path in life.
Blake's story felt real and i enjoyed that the most. Although Blake dealt with a difficult internal conflict between fitting in and taking care of herself, the story has a bittersweet HEA which i found satisfying.

Jay's Gay Agenda by Jason June

I enjoyed this book for the drama.
Were Jay's lists repetitive? Yes. Was he unlikable? Yes,but at least he realized that in the end. Did Albert forgive him to easily? Also yes. Was I right to dislike Tony from the beginning? .
All in all, despite Jay being annoying and selfish, I found everything past the 80% quite satisfying and I'm glad he had a character development + realized how friendships are just as important as relationships.

Really nice and interesting, the revelation at the end quite predictable, but still, I enjoyed it enough to be looking forward the rest of the series.
Would recommend.

Out of 3 love interests, I ended up not liking any of them.
Matthew because....
Amanda because....
Dani because....
All gave so many mixed signals I just stopped rooting for any. It's true that Maggie was acting like her life was a dating show, but it's safe to say she wasn't the only disaster.
+ i found the plot boring
At least Jordan was fun.
