This is both a modern retelling and not and no I will not elaborate because spoilers. Just know that if you don't like myth retellings, it isn't that kind of retelling and that if you love the story or retellings, it's everything you want. And also, they are gay, Your Honor.

This book is what solidified my hatred of the main characters. It also feels very much like a buffer between the end of book 3 and what will happen with book 5, as if SJM had planned for it to end with 3 and her publisher wanted more. Luckily, there are enough characters to carry the books.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 11%.
This book is so boring. I cannot tell you what honestly happened or who was who. I was expecting Bridgerton and got The Crucible instead.

I had high hopes for this book, given the dedication page. I was a little disappointed, but I think it's because it just didn't go hard enough. If we are gonna sleep with Death, make him more than a 12-pack pretty boy, ya know? Also, the boyfriend was entirely unnecessary and honestly took away from the story which is about falling in love with Death after being the sole survivor in a horrorific accident. If you like dark romance, you might enjoy it.
