This was an easy read, that kept my interest for the whole story. I think it leaves a lot of questions at the end, but it gets you thinking about yourself and the book.
Although the edition i picked up used some difficult language, I did not dislike to read this. It’s an iconic story after all and I feel like I had to read it someday. It has some beautiful lines and was sometimes surprisingly funny?
Despite being 199 pages this felt so long. I lost interest after reading half of the book. It had some potential but at the end I didn't enjoy the story that much overall. However I still liked certain parts of the story, so that's why I'd give it a 2.75.
This book was so interesting. I loved the antropology stuff, (some of) the characters and their relationships between each other and their jobs. This was beautifully written, I underlined so many lines. Absolutely wonderful. Reading the last line after everything made me want to scream.
Frusterating read. I love these stories and characters, but the writing didn’t make them come to life and it was sometimes confusing to figure out what was being said. It also tells stories, instead of showing them. Still the second half of the book made up for the (boring) first part. There was some religious talk, but I just kind of read over it.
This book did not end up going the way I thought it would. It was surprising. The characters are complex and complicated and even unlikeable at some points. I loved the motif of using Elena knows/she knows during the story. I expected to find out what happened in detail, but then we kind of didn’t. If it wasn’t for the slow start, this would have been a 5 star read.
