Algorithms to Live by: The Computer Science of Human Decisions by Tom Griffiths, Brian Christian

The book is good i guess, i didn't get as much out of it as someone who is uninitiated to CS, so ...
Spin by Robert Charles Wilson

I loved this book.
I found it entertaining, scratches that Hard-Sci-Fi itch i have; and scratches it pretty good i might add, accurate, with a very decent cast of characters, all of which i liked (or liked their contribution anyways), very ... epic plot as well.
I was hooked from the very first chapter.
And it kept getting better.
It really was an impressive plot though, and the twists and turns that it took were nice as well (without spoiling too much)
The plot also permits some extremely interesting things ... like ... well, read and find out ;)
This stands alone pretty well (there are a couple of things i didn't understand completely, and i'll think them through), but i *might* read more in the series to have some other answers.
I also wonder if Axis and Vortex (the next books in the series) have the same protagonists (or at least in the same-ish timeline)
RE-READ: GOD DAMN I WANT TO GIVE THIS BOOK 6 stars out of 5.
the second re-read is more rewarding, just so fkn GOOD.

Before They Are Hanged by Joe Abercrombie
Just finished the book
ow ouch OWIE
oh dude
i wonder if im going to pick the next one up immediately :thinkfrog:
It's like ...
That ending though ... most unexpected!
For all of them, what a truly bizarre and cliffhanger-y ending.
As for the book in general, what can i say?
'Twas really good, the action was beautiful, the prose neat, the catch-phrases of the various ''heros'' neater.
The character development was, ... astounding.
I loved Glotka's chapter.
I loved the Named Band shenanigans along with West's story.
I loved Logen's band's (Bayaz et al) characters, for the exception perhaps of Quai, who i think is .. just there for the sake of filling in the trope of being the Big Magician's apprentice, at least he was juicer in the first book, but who knows, maybe he'll play a pivotal role in the third book in the series.
The book pulls no punches, and it's just .. small victories have been had, but at what price ...
Anyways, i am looking forward to the third installment of this book.

I believe whatever review i write for this novel, it's not going to be quite as refined as some of the other ones here.
Suffice it to say, i think this story is amazing, just amazing all-around.
Not perfect, but for the amount of *story* it tells, it's an enjoyable read.

It's short.
It's worth it.
It gets its message across and it doesn't mess around.
