The Third Person by Emma Grove

From the bottom of my heart I hope the author reported this "therapist" and that they've lost their license. That's some abhorrent "therapy".

This was interesting, and I'm glad I've read it. But my rage towards the therapist is the biggest emotion I was left with. I wish to have seen more about how Ed/Emma/Edgar/Katina coped and functioned in their everyday life outside of therapy and more about what happened after the competent therapist came into the picture.

As the author forewarned, there was repetition and everything hinged on memories puzzled together. I was left wanting in the end.

Even so, it's worth reading.

Glad Lucy got her own series!

Note: Do NOT read if you have not read at least the four first books in The Other Realm -series!

A full five star read for me. Five ++.

How to put my thoughts into something coherent though... As I've stated before Amber is a type of character I'd love to see more in UF, and this book stays true to her while not being stagnant.

Out of the books in this series, I think Coven is the best so far. The pacing, overall flow and worldbuilding is so well done, that I was fully immersed in the world, living it right there with Amber. Sure, I'm easily entertained, but lately I haven't been easily coaxed into physical emotions while reading. This book I felt.

I need the next one...

I had some thought pop in my mind mid-read about Bastion. These are slightly spoilerish, so do not read this bit, if you haven't read the book yet!
SpoilerI thought that what if Jake actually had done the same as Jinx's parents, and somehow made a deal with Bastion, that he could live inside him—and that to be the reason for Bastion being into Amber. I am glad I was wrong. Since that would've felt wrong.

Meh. I had so high expectations for this, it might've marred my experience. But the book could've benefited from some additional editing. There was so much repetition of things like, how she must keep her job to pay for her mother's expensive experimental drugs that she is that she needs money for since they're experimental and expensive and her mother needs them so she can't get fired from this job that she needs cause of her mother's expensive experimental drugs!

I already got the second part of the series, so guess I'm going to read it, but truly shouldn't buy the second part without reading the first one first...

I am happy of how this ended. She did not toss away her hard work to return to her past! I'm so freaking proud of her!

However I am not sure how well Nick will do in the FBI, since to me it seems that Emily did most of the work in both cases, while Nick kept whining there's not enough to go on. Wish him luck tho!

I did notice this series lacks diversity quite a bit, which was a disappointment.

If not for the end, I would've given this three stars mainly for the plot driving stupidity of Emily in some crucial spots. Not calling 911 when witnessing abuse and attempted murder for example, nor taking any evidence with her phone camera.

Anyhoo. Enjoyable!

Too much time since I read the first book. Somehow I managed to forget Lundy as her own character, and assumed she was Eleanor. So I was very confused and surprised at the end.
