Emma Lord is my guilty pleasure when it comes to lit and this newest romcom definitely delivered :) !!! Especially as someone coming off her first year of college (where I went through a very similar identity transformation shebang), this was so relatable and funny and heartwarming to read.
Did at times feel a bit too Buzzfeed/Gen Z styled, but for every choosing to have the MC reference HSMTMTS instead of just High School Musical, like any actual teenager would do, you also get ridiculously adorable things like exclusive alphabet-themed parties and an instantly iconic pancake diner.
While the emotional stakes concerning the MC's family felt a bit lazy/anticlimactic (JUST TALK TO YOUR FAMILY!!!)- the romance here is IMO top 2 Lord (topped only by Tweet Cute, of course) and the "Saving Newsbag" plotline was genuinely interesting to read and was immediately reminiscient of the best parts of my college experience so far (PPOT!).
Overall highly recommend!!! :D

Crazy ending!!! Very dated because of some of the obscenities/general racial & gender attitudes, but engaging and fast-paced action. Some of the techno-dystopian prose makes absolutely no sense; some of it is genius. Excited for the movie!
I cried. A lot. Such a perfect book, we are so very lucky to live in this wonderful world ❤️
my research assistanceship might be kicking my butt but at least it means i get to count this towards my reading challenge! the more you learn about jimmy carter the more inspiring he gets, he was truly one of a kind.

For my contemporary poetry class! Really amazing collection, meditative/reflective & explores the complicated racial history of the south through Trethewey’s own family history. Loved how thoughtful the arrangement of the poems were, really forms a cohesive narrative throughout the book! Favorite poem would probably be the last one in the collection, “South”.
The Formula: How Rogues, Geniuses, and Speed Freaks Reengineered F1 Into the World's Fastest-Growing Sport
Jonathan Clegg, Joshua Robinson
An incredibly engaging account of Formula One history, from Colin Chapman’s original Lotus team all the way to the beginning plans for the F1 movie. I loved the thesis of this book—focusing through a business lens on all the reinvention that has happened in the sport throughout history— which gives a different perspective of all the things you would expect a F1 history book to talk about (Senna and Schumacher, Crashgate, Abu Dhabi 2021 etc). There are like ~3 inaccuracies but that’s just me nitpicking lol, otherwise it’s obvious in both the writing and the bibliography the authors did their due diligence in research!
Have become obsessed with this sport this summer so this was truly the perfect read to get me out of a slump, but would recommend to even non-fans because it’s just genuinely so interesting everything that has happened in F1 over the last 75 years!
