**Thanks to the publisher. I won this book through a Goodreads giveaway. Opinions are my own.**

Some of these were great (Dickinson and Millay) and some did just not make for good illustrations. There is a diversity of artistic style here and again some was great and some wasn’t all that legible.

All in all it was alright and probably a good way to teach poetry to kids but I just wasn’t won over by it.

This was a wide collection of 24 poems with beautiful comics attached to them. I really loved the different styles of comic art for each poem. The art felt like it was tailored to the poems and really brought each of them to life. I really enjoyed this collection because while I knew some of the poems, most of them were new to me. And the poem’s that i did already know were brought to life with the comic strips.

This was a wonderful collection of poems that I believe would be appealing for both kids and adults. I feel this could be the perfect way to introduce poetry to kids without overwhelming them. This is also a great way of understanding what a poem is actually talking about and understand the meaning behind the words.

Julian Peters has a genuine talent for the tricky business of rendering poetry visually via the medium of comics. In this volume, he has chosen twenty-four poems from a wide range of poets, most of them fairly well known (Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost, William Wordsworth, etc), and he varies his graphic approach considerably for each piece, allowing for new visual surprises with each poem.

While all of his interpretations are very well done, some are incredibly successful, including William Ernest Henry's "Invictus", Langston Hughes' "Juke Box Love Song" and Edna St. Vincent Millay's "Conscientious Objector". But there is truly not a weak piece in the entire volume - Peters has chosen his poems well, and delivered insightful visual interpretations of each verse. Truly a standout read for any lover of poetry and/or comics.

A beautiful visual interpretation of classic poems. As an ELA teacher, I am often looking for resources to reshape the way students analyze and understand poetry, as well as appeal to visual learners. Not only do the visuals make the texts reachable to younger readers, they lead to inspiration for young artists and poet interpreters to let their imaginations fly. I am grateful for the opportunity to review this ARC and am looking forward to making this text a staple resource in my classroom.

The ARC I received from the publisher was incomplete, but I appreciated the poem / illustration pairings.

This small poetry collection features the poetry of Western classics such as Maya Angelou, Emily Dickenson, T. S. Elliot, and Edgar Allan Poe- but through the lens of the author's art interpretations. The art styles were beautifully done with intricate detail; each poem's art takes on a different mood and style that fits the poets' aesthetics. I would recommend this for poetry readers of all levels.
