This book, this whole series, was really excellent, even on reread. It was fast. I loved the continued development of Nya's powers, especially that it was logical development, even though she didn't understand what she was doing. I loved the raw intensityof the emotions in this book. And finally a young adult series about keeping the little sister safe and that doesn't end with the little sister dying unlike some other books that will not be named. It was a great read, and I really needed that right now. I highly recommend this whole series!

Three books and I never got used to the word pynvium

A number of on the page deaths, some for named characters, and Tali spends much of the book in a very altered state

This series is one of the most original ideas I've read in a long time. This 3rd book completed the series wonderfully. Janice Hardy created the bravest cast of characters. The idea of using healing powers this way is amazing. I loved this book wholeheartedly and Nya is a character to look up to. I find myself in the crowd chanting her name as well. Thank you Janice Hardy for this wonderful series.

While it has been a while since I've read the first two, I remembered enough to understand what was going on. I have to admit, I really enjoyed this book series. It's always great to read about a world quite different from ours, not to mention the entire series' take on healing. I enjoyed the resolution to the series as well; not too happy, but not too sad either. Some survived, some didn't, and some in between. It also comes full circle with Nya's heritage and what happened before the war. You could also really feel Nya's emotions when she thought she was going to lose.

Now that I have all three books, I think I will have to read them all through again at some point.

I love these books so much. I’ve read the series three times as I’ve gotten older and I can always count on them. I so wish there was more written in the world! There are so many things left open. That makes everything hopeful and seems natural (which is good) but I want to know answers too. One thing I did notice this time is that this book is actually really dark.
At least 6000 people (probably lots more) die in this book, and the heroine kills like 4000 of them. She even sucks a guys life force out of his face and gains power from it. But you still love her very much and blame her for nothing. One of the main characters also becomes severely brain damaged :(
So, kids probably won’t notice that on a first read (this is my third read), but if they’re sensitive to violence or actually will catch on, maybe not the best choice. Otherwise, these books are so good and I grow so invested every time. I so wish there was more.
