I liked it!
I feel as though somethings are a little too close to throne of glass and a court of thorns and roses. But it was enjoyable, and there are many things i’m excited to see how it will progress in the books to come.

Almost 5, only not 5 because its not throne of glass. Otherwise it is awesome!
This series is solid and I enjoyed this book immensely. It would be a 5 from me if it weren't for a few tired tropes, but do not let this deter you from giving it a try. There is plenty to make up for that, especially in the characters. Each one adds something so different to the story, so I appreciated the glimpses into their points of view. Recommend!

I’ve always been partial to this type of fantasy, an ”average” girl who comes to find she has powers and finds her true purpose in this world, fighting and saving everyone, etc, etc.. So I do like this story, even though it’s very clear that the author has been heavily influenced by Throne of glass and similar romantasy books of that era. It’s still a good story!
I did have a tougher time getting into this book because of the third person pov, definitely prefer first person. I also thought that the book could have been comprised to a lot less pages. I have hope that the rest of the books in this series are better, the ending did seem promising for the next book. I have the second book on my kindle, so I will probably read that one before I decide if I want to continue or not! 📖

Chloe C. Peñaranda created such an intriguing world with her debut novel! I loved getting to know Faythe in An Heir Comes to Rise. She is such a fierce, selfless young woman, and I love that Chloe did not shy away from discussing her struggles and fears, and the way she felt as everything she thought she knew changed. I am such a Nic fan, and I loved Jakan and Marlow for being the best friends Faythe could have asked for. This book just barely scratched the surface of what is to come, and I can't wait to see where where the story goes from here.

I did not think this book was well-written. The author tells, rather than shows. It felt a bit immature and cheesy.
