Great narration, really loved that it was duet narrated. The story, however, I expected it to be more of a mindf_ÄŤk.. It wasn't, and I feel like there was some gaps. I felt so much potential in the beginning, and then it just dropped completely. Good for a bit of an immoral read, but expected more.

It gets credit for that first scene in the office, but it went down hill fast after all that hymen talk. Major ICK

The moment I saw the TW and tropes list for MTB, I knew I had to read it ASAP.
This one was a ride. Sera's feelings of inadequacy hit home for me as someone that has had a lifelong battle with self-esteem and self-worth. I too have been in a loveless, violent marriage that I'd used as a means to escape my unhappy family.
Shane saved Sera in so many yes. Did he go about it the right way? Nah. But that's what I love about dark romances. The villain uses terrible methods to get the girl.
This one had me on the edge of my seat from the first words of chapter one to the final words of the epilogue. I found myself rooting for Shera (yes, I've taken it upon myself to give them a ship name haha) immediately. And I could not have been more happy when he dealt with Time multiple times.
It's not often I buy physical copies of book I read on my kindle, but MTB is definitely going to be the exception to this rule!

I wish I DNF’d this. It wasn’t terrible for most of the book, if the dubcon was a bit too dubious for me and the hypnosis was shown as a bit too much like drugging and grooming, but when he used painful sex as a punishment when she was already working through hangups about sex? I was out. From then and through his thorough abuse and conditioning of her, I wanted her to escape him. That would’ve been the only saving grace— if it was a bait and switch where escaping Shane was the happy ending.
