I wish I DNF’d this. It wasn’t terrible for most of the book, if the dubcon was a bit too dubious for me and the hypnosis was shown as a bit too much like drugging and grooming, but when he used painful sex as a punishment when she was already working through hangups about sex? I was out. From then and through his thorough abuse and conditioning of her, I wanted her to escape him. That would’ve been the only saving grace— if it was a bait and switch where escaping Shane was the happy ending.

this felt like it needed to be longer for what all was mentioned. I like dark romance but this one didn’t sit right with me. not awful but it just wasn’t my vibe
I loved having the MMC be the shrink rather than FMC. And throwing in his Jedi mind tricks was perfect. Will be reading more from this author.

Okay, so I completely understand why this wouldn’t be a lot of people’s cup of tea: the trigger warnings are incredibly heavy, it’s practically insta romance, there’s not too much plot going on, and it has a couple of tropes that I can imagine even fans of dark romance would question. As the title suggests, there is some mind bending. However, if you kind of go in with no expectations, then it’s an entertaining, easy couple hour read?
I don’t know if with the themes entertaining and easy are the right terms, but this is the first ‘stalker romance’ I’ve read and I think because I wasn’t taking the whole thing too seriously, I was just going through the motions so see how the whole thing concluded with Shane and Seraphina.
I wanted to read something different, and I got that with Mind to Bend. If you’re after something that contains a coupler of the more ‘taboo’ themes of dark romance, and something that you definitely aren’t going to delve into with the hopes of a strong plot or character development, then I’d recommend picking this up and making your own decision.
