I. LOVED. THIS. SO. MUCH!!!! Coyote Sunrise is one of my new favorite characters ever. As well as the whole cast of this book. I need more middle grade books about grief and road trips. Wow. I'm blown away.

I haven't cried this much since Bridge to Terabithia. But this was way better and maybe less traumatizing since you know from the beginning that this is a story about grief.

Well...couldn’t get through this one without teary eyes! This is such a sweet sweet story about home and family. It got my students thinking and talking about the importance of blood family AND choice family. Sooooooo good!

Emotionally gripping, Coyote’s story is one of rescue. Coyote has been living on a refurbished school bus with her dad, Rodeo, for five years when she receives important news about something devastating happening in their hometown.

She’s determined to get back and face what feels like a lifetime of grief. And it is nothing short of astonishing.

This is a powerful story of building and breaking family ties, forging real friendships, and embracing grief in all its horrific glory.

Highly recommended for readers 12 and up.
