I received an e-ARC from NetGalley.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I laughed, I cried. Seriously though, while we never doubt what the end of this story will be, getting there is a journey worth taking with Coyote and the band of people (and animals) she gathers around herself. Moments of pure joy, laughter, grief, awkwardness, and everything else in between make this a little slice of life. Deep grief doesn't stop life and there are so many ways of dealing with it. Rodeo's and Coyote's ways are coming into conflict, but not reading this story is a no-go.

I could have easily rated this a few different ways. As a whole, the story was sweet, their were just some small things that didn’t work for me. These were mostly personal preferences and they didn’t take away from the story. I just felt some choices the author made, weren’t convincing. I did appreciate all the book recommendations and the varied diversity.

“I just wanted everyone to be happy. It’s hard, though, when everyone carries around a heart inside them that is so loud and so strong and so easily broken.”

This book is for every reader (middle grade or not) because this book is perfection. I don’t have any other amazing words for this book because this review doesn’t need them.

This is one of the best books I have ever read! This would also be an excellent book for a movie and should be one, and it should be way more popular than it is! So amazing! I am now reading it for the third time.

original review: really enjoyed this book! i don’t usually like realistic fiction but i picked this up from a bookstore because the cover art caught my eye and i’m so glad i did! its more of a book for middle school, or maybe a couple years younger but i think its a book most everyone could enjoy!

re-read: gosh, re-reading this book made me remember how GOOD it is. i love the writing style, i love the characters, i love this book. coyote is such a good main character and the ending is so sweet. all the other characters have good personalities and weren’t just ignored (which is hard to do with that many other characters.) all in all i would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes reading.
