This took a really long time but was worth it. The information contained in this book does not match it's size. Each paragraph will make you think on how you could have acted in the past, and how you should act in the present and future.

I liked how Dr. Peterson took one line thoughts and weaved them into chapters that connects lobsters, civilization, theology, and life experiences of his patients and himself.

After listening to Dr. Peterson's lectures on YouTube and having read this book, I can safely say that this book binds all those relatively small ideas and analysis into a 12 part narrative. And, like any good book, the epilogue binds all 12 chapters into a bigger narrative.

I don't think one can get everything that this book has to offer in the first or second reading. And I will revisit periodically for more.

A 60-page idea crammed into 400-plus pages dense with far too much Jordan Peterson's bloviation.

I know many gave this 5 stars but i did not like it. This book was overly preachy and not very profound. I was shocked at some of the rather narrow minded view points and demonstrations of close mindedness for someone offering “rules”. Although judging by the number of bible quotes i guess i am not surprised. I also found that the mass explanations didnt tie into the rules very fluidly. I often forgot the point he was trying to make. Some may enjoy it but i did not. Some of his good points were lost in the nauseum.

This is a book I need to buy and have on hand to reference. Plus it took me two rounds on the library waitlist to get through the whole thing.

I really liked how Peterson drew from science, faith, and his psychology background. Plus the rules just make sense.

Summary: Psychologist Jordan B. Peterson brings his uncompromising voice to readers wanting to lead a deeper and more profoundly meaningful life. Dr. Peterson discusses discipline, responsibility, and the necessity of clear, truthful thinking, distilling the discoveries of science and the lessons from the great myths of the world into twelve profound directives for living properly in today's ever-transforming world.

I was expecting more tips and suggestions and less Bible and God. Some things were clearly explained trough psychology and these parts I enjoyed a lot, some other parts were fuzzy and totally illogical (they usual involve his friend Chris) and made me think that I shouldn't have bought this volume. All in all I wouldn't recommend it to many people.
