This was a casual read that felt sooo seasonal. The beach was idealistic and the vibes were good, but the characters were kind of one dimensional

There wasn’t really one main character which feels like a different writing style of hers. I’m not sure I enjoyed the back and forth storylines.
Minor: Domestic abuse
I can't decide between a 3 and a 3.5 for rating. It took me a while to get into the story and I didn't end the book feeling satisfied. I wanted to know how the relationship went, where they ended up living, jobs etc.

Tori and Meredith are cousins who at one time we’re as close as sisters. Both being partially raised in Cape Sanctuary by grandma Francis. Fast forward to present day. Tori is still in Cape Sanctuary, raising her daughter, and ruining the local cafe. Now widowed Tori rents one of three cottages to Liam. Liam is an undercover FBI agent in Cape Sanctuary to investigate Meredith who jus returned to town. Meredith’s ex husband had stolen millions from people. Meredith has returned to town broke and down and out. Liam and Meredith grow closer. Tori grows close to her now divorced brother in law. Throw in a few dogs and this is a fabulous read.
I received an advanced copy of this book.
This book is a book about redemption and new beginnings. Meredith Collins coasts into the town of Cape Sanctuary on a nearly empty gas tank. Her life has been turned upside down after her ex-husband tricked investors out of millions of dollars of their own money, and later died in prison. Meredith has been in the crosshairs of the investigation and public opinion, but now she needs to start over.
Cape Sanctuary holds special memories of her youth and time with her grandmother. She has a rough reunion with her cousin Tori due to old hurt feelings. Meredith rolls up her sleeves, cleans up the cabin her grandmother left her, and works washing dishes at the cafe that Tori runs. She is determined to get a fresh start on her new life, but that plan has it challenges due to her relationship with Tori, and connecting with a mysterious writer who is renting the next door cabin.

Return to the enchanting Cape Sanctuary in this heartfelt and compelling tale of redemption and second chances. Amidst family rifts and personal struggles, the mysterious writer next door, Liam Byrne, becomes an unexpected source of comfort and hope. With a captivating blend of secrets, forgiveness, and unexpected connections, this novel beautifully explores the power of healing and the promise of a brighter future.
Heartwarming read about two cousins reconnecting through the diner their grandmother left to them. There’s also a really great beach setting, some other family stuff and romance for both, giving the reader a really good summer story.
Thank you to Getredpr, Canary Street and RaeAnne Thayne for the ARC!!
When Meredith Collins was growing up, Cape Sanctuary was just that - her sanctuary, every summer with her grandmother. Now, she’s returning under less than ideal circumstances; without her knowledge, her ex-husband swindled people out of their money. But at least she still has the cottage at Cape Sanctuary. She is hoping to mend her relationship with her cousin Tori, who runs their grandmother’s old cafe. She isn’t expecting to meet the handsome writer renting the next door cottage, but doesn’t want him to know who she is.
Another great summer read by RaeAnne Thayne! I read another book in the Cape Sanctuary series last year and it seems like these books lately have been kicking off my summer! I love the Cape Sanctuary setting, it feels like a familiar summer vacation. I appreciated the theme of second chances in this book and how the author showed Meredith’s growth an healing.
