A solid mystery even if a bit contrived. This is one of the better Poirot mysteries although there is no Hastings.
Overall, I did like this book. I thought that it was interesting and I never saw the ending! I found it a little bit frustrating at times, and the ending confused me a little bit, but it was still good. Not my favorite of Agatha Christie's, but still quality literature and quality mystery.
The murder mystery was fine enough (for one that I alas did not entirely solve, though I did figure out some elements of it) but politically speaking, the opinions in this book are, uh. Of its time, I guess. Poirot is still as much of a hypocrite as usual, and pardon me, but his pity is entirely misplaced.
After the disappointment of Towards Zero last month I was glad for a Hercule Poirot story!

Per usual agatha expertly kept me guessing -- so far no hercule books as great as the murder of roger akroyd but this was enjoyable nevertheless
