When my friend Curtis started reading The Thursday Murder Club, he immediately knew that this style of story (the comedic hijinks of a group of octogenarians living in a retirement village) would greatly appeal to me...and, here I am, having just gobbled up #3 of the series, eagerly anticipating the release of #4 in September. For me, the murder mystery is a secondary component of these books--watching the development of new relationships and established friendships among the main characters holds the greatest draw. I can only hope that I will age as gracefully as the charter members of The Thursday Murder Club.

4.5 these are a blast

Pure pleasure, as ever. I would read a dozen of these happily.

These books are so much fun to read. I’m sad to be all caught up with the series because that means I have to wait for the next one. But he promised in the acknowledgements that another one would be ready for independent booksellers this year so I’ll be patient. I may even re-read the series between now and then. The characters feel like old friends now.
