The most perfect finale for an unbelievable awesome series!

I've been eagerly awaiting this last book in the Faye series. I've followed the characters journeys through four heartbreaking yet heartwarming books and as much as I wanted to know the end of the story, I wasn't ready to let go.

Even now, after finishing the book, I'm not ready to let these beloved characters go.
But that didn't keep me from reading this book within two days.

"Kingdom of Ice" has it all: friendship, love, found family. Mix in some banter (yes, Alex, you!), a creepy mansion and some shocking gothic elements, shake and open yourself an energizing, captivating read, which you don't want to put down!

Thank you, Nicole Bailey, for taking us on this journey and introducing us to Faye's World! Or should I say, thank you Faye?!

Faye, Daron, Alec, and Telanes are back for the epic conclusion to the Faye and the Ether series. Desperate to break the curse that binds the dragons’ powers, Faye learns that the answer may lie in the Kingdom of Ice. But when Faye and her entourage journey there, things are not entirely what they seem. With danger awaiting them at every turn and time running out, Faye and her party must figure out who to trust and how far they are willing to go to break the curse.

Wow! I can’t believe this series is over! Faye has come such a long way since the first book when she initially learned about her abilities and a whole new supernatural world. Now the leader of the dragons, Faye is so much more confident and sure of herself. Her relationships, much like Faye, have grown and strengthened and have become more of a tight-knit family. Other relationships in the story are developed too, and there are some really fun and witty conversations between friends throughout. I love all of the banter and fun antics, as they help ease the tension of some particularly suspenseful scenes. I love the friendships in the story as much as I love the swoon-worthy romances.

The romances, of course, are always my favorite parts of a novel, and the love stories in this series are fantastic! I adore how Telanes and Faye’s relationship, as well as Daron and Alec’s, have grown and developed. The love and connection, devotion, and support that each couple demonstrates is just the beginning of these layered and loving partners, and I was totally there for it! They have some super swoon-worthy and romantic moments, and I kind of feel like Telanes should be my new book boyfriend. He’s so intense and in love, and he isn’t afraid to show it. And Daron and Alec are total relationship goals! They have the best friends-to-lovers romance. Both are such amazing couples, and I couldn’t get enough of them. Alec explains their relationships so well when he compares new love to a sapling and their love as an older tree, steady and beautiful and only growing better with age. This is exactly how I see both Alec and Daron’s relationship and Telanes and Faye’s. Unbreakable, unwavering, deep, and passionate.

The story also has a ton of action, danger, and excitement as Faye travels to the mysterious Kingdom of Ice. The journey is perilous and fraught with obstacles, and the kingdom is more dangerous than they ever imagined. Secrets, lies, betrayal, and more make for a gripping read with several unexpected and tragic twists. And, oh my word, prepare yourselves! New kingdoms, new terrain, as well as new and old threats, are just some of the problems Faye, Daron., Telanes, and Alec face, and none of them are safe.

Faye and the Kingdom of Ice is a great conclusion to the Faye and the Ether series, and I’m so thankful to Nicole Bailey for providing me a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review. I’m sad that the series has come to an end, but am so glad I got to go on this journey with Faye, Daron, Alec, and Telanes. This is such a unique series and one that I highly recommend to readers of YA or NA fantasy and romance.

Once I reached 45% I had to finish it. I couldn’t put it down again. Finished the ready in one night. Did I regret it the next day? Nope.

The gist of my review:

Faye’s world holds such a lovely little place in my heart and I just can’t believe that I’ve read this long awaited conclusion.

This book kicks off where the last one left off. Faye is still searching for the answers to the questions that have been plaguing her for months. When hope starts to fade, a mysterious messenger appears. Can this mysterious messenger give her all the solutions to her problems?

In ‘Faye and the Kingdom of Ice’, we are treated to new heights, a new enemy, a suspenseful quest, and such dazzling romance. I almost couldn’t handle it!

Characters: 5/5

I can’t help but compare Faye from book one and how she is now in book five. I’m so incredibly proud of how far she’s come and what she has achieved for herself. Not only has she become a very diplomatic leader, but she’s fierce, powerful, and inspirational, yet humbled by her own origins and her downfalls. I adore how her relationship with Telanes has progressed, especially in the little epilogue snippet!

Then there’s our dashing Alec…

Once again, Alec was our other MC, and as much as I do miss Daron in the forefront, I strongly believe that Alec absolutely brought forth the success of this story. I’ve always mentioned that Nicole Bailey has this incredible ability to make a high fantasy story relatable to the reader’s real world, and she absolutely delivered that in this book. Alec struggles with his future career path and making decisions that will not only reflect on himself but also on the life and happiness of his partner. I am currently facing similar choices and it’s comforting having a character that you can relate to and empathise with.

Plot: 4.5/ 5

Sometimes it can be really tricky to maintain an interesting and gripping plot when following with such a long series. There’s only so many times a character can go on a huge quest before it gets repetitive, but I really believe Nicole built up everything throughout the series to leave us with a suspenseful and page-turning storyline in this book.

Writing and Setting:

Previously, I’ve been picky with the pacing and the flow of Nicole’s writing. Her and I have spoken about this, but I really loved how the book panned out from start to finish. As always, the writing is stunning and incredibly imaginative. Its so easy to immerse myself into these stories and I will miss this world now that I’m finished.

Thank you so much Nicole and her team for providing me with an advanced copy of Faye and the Kingdom of Ice.

Its been a huge privileged to be apart of the advance readers group and to have contact with an author who you can be honest with about your views, and look towards for inspiration.

Congratulations on finish the ‘Faye and the Ether’ series! I look forward to reading more from Nicole in future :)
