Didn't like it. The premise was very odd to begin with (Grandma told me a life isn't worth living unless I kiss someone 1000 times?) - and the characters were so annoying and unlikeable that I actually was glad for the ending. I forced myself to finish the book because I had predicted how it was going to end and oh my god I was right, but it was still awful.

The author tried so very hard to make this a tragic star-crossed lovers story but Rune was the most annoying, misogynistic, selfish brat. Meanwhile, Poppy had literally no personality and was "not like other girls." They had zero chemistry and their whole relationship was forced because they were childhood friends?

The entire conflict during the time skip was such garbage too. Hated both characters and how they acted.

I didn't think it was cute or romantic or anything. Don't waste your time.

This story reads like an AI bot took all the famous tween and teen romance books and put them together. It wasn’t bad it just was very unoriginal, and if I was the parents in that story quite frankly I wouldn’t be happy with this.
if my child is actively dying from cancer their boyfriend does not get priority over me, and they don’t get to be there every single moment making it so I don’t get to be the one holding my child while they die.

I personally am not religious and the use of heaven being a reason she was ok to die did not rub me the right way, but if you do believe in god you might enjoy that. I just personally found it very cringey.

I have never had a book just completely wreck me in the first chapter. I cried and cried so hard all the way home once I started this audiobook. Once the first chapter ended it was hard to listen to. It seemed to drag on for a long while. But Rune and Poppy were still very lovable characters. I just wish there would have been a little more insight as to what was happening while Rune was away. I would have loved to know what he was actually up to. Or the reality of what was going on in Poppy's life.

When Poppy finally came clean about why she just up and vanished from Rune's life I understood the lack of knowledge in the book. I hated how angry Rune was at everyone including Poppy. The things that Rune did for Poppy to make those last few days everything she wanted and needed it to be. Being able to fulfill her dreams of going to New York, going to prom, watching the sun rise on the beach as well as filling her jar to its entirety. I still did not see the ending when it blindsided me.

This book may have had many instances where it was cliche but I believe that this book was meant for those who believe in eternal love. This book was made for those who believe in love at first sight and for those who love with all of their whole being.

Wow… this was a tough read. The courage, fight and strength these characters have. I will always remember this book. It was so sweet until it was heartbreaking. I highly recommend going in blind but look into triggers. I loved the concept of A Thousand Boy Kisses and the meaning behind it. Was such a sentimental moment that I appreciated. I loved the plot even though I was in pieces at the end. Also every page had a sentence that gripped me and hurt! Poppymin will always be on my mind when I think of this book.
This doesn’t get five stars and let me explain why.
I understand why people would DNF this. It’s not realistic even though we know it’s fiction. These characters loved so hard and were talking like adults at ages 15 and 17. Not to mention at age 5 things said and happened that I believe no five year old would do. Also it’s a bit repetitive on a lot of things and Juvenile.
So overall it would make sense these characters are teenagers.
But personally I pushed the realistic thoughts and age element to the side and overall enjoyed this read.
