Wow… this was a tough read. The courage, fight and strength these characters have. I will always remember this book. It was so sweet until it was heartbreaking. I highly recommend going in blind but look into triggers. I loved the concept of A Thousand Boy Kisses and the meaning behind it. Was such a sentimental moment that I appreciated. I loved the plot even though I was in pieces at the end. Also every page had a sentence that gripped me and hurt! Poppymin will always be on my mind when I think of this book.
This doesn’t get five stars and let me explain why.
I understand why people would DNF this. It’s not realistic even though we know it’s fiction. These characters loved so hard and were talking like adults at ages 15 and 17. Not to mention at age 5 things said and happened that I believe no five year old would do. Also it’s a bit repetitive on a lot of things and Juvenile.
So overall it would make sense these characters are teenagers.
But personally I pushed the realistic thoughts and age element to the side and overall enjoyed this read.

I absolutely loved this book! It made me feel so many emotions, it made me sob like not a lot of books did
It was so close to getting a 5 star but I was a bit annoyed by a few things, such as the "bad boy/good girl" trope in the middle of the book, their romance was adorable but super cliché at times, I'm not against it but in that case I was a bit disappointed by it
The relationship between Rune and his father and brother got me in tears more than once
This book is super inspiring to me, live your life fully and enjoy small things
I loved it but actually would not recommend it that much because I can see why a lot of people wouldn't like it
It made me feel things I haven't felt in a long time because of a book and I'm so glad I picked it up at this bookstore
The concept of the kisses jar was so cute I had to make one for myself
Honestly I guessed almost the entire plot but it doesn't make it bad
I liked it a lot from the beginning and was scared it might not be satisfying but it sure was
I probably loved it that much because my 2 favorite tropes are in this book : childhood friend to lovers and right person not enough time
"When you know that something is finite, it makes it that much more meaningful." - favorite quote

Thank you, Michael Joseph Penguin Publishing, for sending this book in exchange for an honest review. I have been wanting to read this for the longest time, I’ve heard many things about it but I tried to go into this with a clear mind and oh my god, my heart has been shattered.

One kiss lasts a moment. But a thousand kisses can last a lifetime. One boy. One girl. A bond that is forged in an instant and cherished for a decade. A bond that neither time nor distance can break. A bond that lasts forever. Or so they believe. This book has two points of views. The first one is Rune Kristiansen, he moved to America from Norway when he was five years old. He didn’t want to leave home and swore to not like America. That was before he met his neighbour who is Poppy Litchfield who sees everything good in the world and is eager to take her new best friend on a new adventure. From that day, they agree to be best friends. Before Poppy’s nana passed away, she gave Poppy a present and some advice. To have one thousand special kisses from the boys that made her heart burst. Whilst in grief, she was being comfort by Rune and their friendship became a relationship and they vowed that the thousand kisses will be only for them alone . . . until Rune is forced to go back to Norway for his father’s job, they vow to stay in touch as he will be home in two years. However, Poppy cuts him and completely ghosts him. So, when he returns, Rune is a different boy and he wants to know why he got cut off. But can Rune handle the truth? Will Poppy and Rune be able to be friends again? This is a standalone young adult contemporary romance.

This book broke my bloody heart. I loved it and it killed me as well. I loved the sunshine x grumpy dynamic in this book and I love Poppy. I want her outlook of the world, because she was always so happy and pleasant whilst going through the biggest thing of her life. This book makes me want to believe in love and soulmates. The Epilogue as well made me sob! I am glad Tillie Cole kept it in but Christ, I haven’t cried this much at a book since Me Before You.
