Another excellent book by Cherie Dimaline. The book had a slow start and dragged on a bit, but the end was quite the ride. Her writing is always fabulous and I loved all of the characters.

Did not finish. Read 60%. Predictable, weak writing. No attempt to describe place or characters. purely dialogue driven and it’s bad dialogue. The motivations of the individuals and the collective are not clear or convincing. Such a disappointing read.

This feminist, witchy read was everything I needed to start the Fall season. I loved how the characters were tied together through generations. And I loved how the elders were referred to by their roles in the coven; the descriptions of each role was very well done. 

 

I had a little bit of trouble with the FMC’s attitude towards her grandmother at first, but their quirky relationship quickly grew on me.
