im so sad. but i’m going to be honest: apart from sel and bree interactions, this was severely underwhelming.
Too complicated and too simplistic at once. The author tries to pack in so many themes that she is forced to just outright state them to save the time it takes to explore them thoroughly. There are so many kinds of magic, magical terms, and ways of existing in this world that I understood none of them completely. I'm really disappointed in what could have been such an amazing story.

So like, what the fuck??? I feel like I was put into a washing machine for the entirety of this book. I feel bruised, battered, and my heart rate is through the fucking roof. And yet, I’d do it all again. Deonn has created a world so real and vibrant with characters so complex and multifaceted, I could stay here forever. I feel like I’ve lived 47 lives reading this, and I feel like Bree lived 192. I just know the next one is going to rip me to fucking shreds.

i liked this one a lot too! readers get a lot of great character development, especially from some of my favorite characters, which was awesome. tracy deonn is still really able to pull me in with the way she writes. the ending of this one happened and i was like… girl be fr. so i do have to remind myself that this is fantasy which i normally am not the biggest fan of. idk some parts of the ending were like a little far fetched or maybe the twist just didn’t hit me as awesomely as the one in the first book did. however still awesome and i’m excited for the next

Bloodmarked is still my favourite book in the series so far. Definitely tops the first and third book.
And yeah, its probably something to do with Sel, Valec and Erebus. I like my morally grey/evil demons, what can I say?
Also seeing Bree come into her own was a great thing to see more of, as well as her decisions at the end. She won't be controlled by anyone, no matter who they are.
To say I howled when it was revealed that Erebus was the Shadow King would be a understatement lol. That cliffhanger left me thinking about that book for weeks after
