this book felt long.
i don’t care about the plot as much as the characters; and this one has a lot of politics going on. it is “Clash of Kings” though so that’s on me.

4.25 stars instead of 4.0 just for cersei. this book made me understand how someone could possibly like the lannisters more than the starks.

overall not as riveting or memorable as the first book. but the worldbuilding is still spectacular, and all of the chapters’ POVs were distinct, and appreciated.
davos’s chapter on the blackwater was an unexpected favorite.
i did also really really like tyrion’s chapters. i think this book is really owned by him, and cersei.—for all that i also liked seeing jon more often.
i’m excited to take a pause, and then return to keep following the story.

I don't know whether to give this book a solid 4 stars, or 4.5. I didn't like it as much as the first. His greatest strength - the detail with which he gives life to this world - is also his greatest weakness. Just enough description, but he can get too wordy. I really didn't like Davos so I hope we get a different narrator to tell Stannis's tale. I was almost over Theon's POV too, but then he really surprised me. I can't wait to see what happens next!

a specific fanart of jon snow will not leave me alone when reading his chapters i love him

Jesus. You read 900+ pages of a book hoping that there will be ONE hopeful storyline or ONE loose end tied up, but I guess to expect that from GRRM is foolish.
I'm left unfullfilled, but I cannot deny how awesome this series is turning out to be. The characters in this series make up for all of the lackluster, one-dimensional characters I have ever read.

Interestingly enough, the first book didn’t strike me as having all that much gratuitous sexual content: I think this book actually had more, unfortunately. This doesn’t ruin the book however, as it is still incredibly and expertly written. The plot is very engaging and amazingly u haven’t lost track of any characters, despite similar and ridiculous names. I also remember hearing that George R. R. Martin was prone to killing off main characters, but I don’t think hardly any main characters have died yet - just one really. It is also impressive to me that these books flow together so well, despite being written with large time intervals. The story works well as books, but could very easily be one massive book. As a side note, I 1) can’t imagine waiting between these books and 2) am not excited at the prospect of waiting for the last two.

Not as strong as there is a lot more building towards key storylines and plots yet was still a good read
