I adore this book series!  I am so thankful that Kendra recommended it to me.  It is a wonderful read; very entertaining and I really love these characters, both the good ones and the bad ones.  The storyline is so complex and full of details, it is such a treat to read it and find all the foreshadowing moments.  The reason why Robert ended up slaughtering the old royal lineage is quite violent.  I feel so bad for Dany and her relatives; I understand her relatives weren’t the best of people, but that wasn’t a good reason for him to slaughter them all and take the throne for himself.  It is a really good example of wars being fought over women before in our past, such as Helen of Troy.  Humankind really are quite stupid, aren’t they?  Never learning from history and past mistakes.

Rated: 4.5/5.0—Overall, it was a wonderful installment and I can’t wait to read more about all the characters.  The Red Lady and her “shadow children,” who can kill people, are very strange.  I am curious about them; I hope we get to learn more about her.  There were some new characters introduced, like Brienne, who is now loyal to Lady Catelyn after all she did for her after Renly’s death.  I am eagerly awaiting to see what happens next for all these character’s storylines since they had all ended in such cliffhangers in this novel.  I can also say I can see the attraction of the Sansan ship; I am enjoying all the little interactions between them.  I think the chapters I enjoy most are the ones from Sansa, as well as Arya and Tyrion.  (I don’t know if this is a ship or not, but I can see Arya/Gendry as a ship I could get behind.)

⭐⭐⭐⭐,5 /5

adventurous challenging dark

Estuvo lleno de:
arrrg cómo se atreven a querer ser reyes;
ahh yo soy el heredero del trono;
el pueblo me quiere a mi;
Quiero puro seguir leyendo!

Restarted the Song of Ice and Fire books from where I left off years ago, having now watched the Game of Thrones TV series. Much more enjoyable this time around as it’s now much easier to keep track of who the characters all are, and very interesting to see the differences compared the TV series.
A fantasy classic for good reason - the world building and complexity is incredible. Whilst the writing can at times be a little difficult to get through, overall it’s enjoyable. I feel my editions could use better maps (I swear some places mentioned don’t show on any of the maps!) and I think family trees would be beneficial too rather that just lists of characters at the back!
