Restarted the Song of Ice and Fire books from where I left off years ago, having now watched the Game of Thrones TV series. Much more enjoyable this time around as it’s now much easier to keep track of who the characters all are, and very interesting to see the differences compared the TV series.
A fantasy classic for good reason - the world building and complexity is incredible. Whilst the writing can at times be a little difficult to get through, overall it’s enjoyable. I feel my editions could use better maps (I swear some places mentioned don’t show on any of the maps!) and I think family trees would be beneficial too rather that just lists of characters at the back!

I enjoyed this book to some degree.... But I just hate that there are soooo many characters. I wish at times it would focus more on House Stark Vs House Lannister without having to get all these other kingdoms involved.
I gave it three stars because the story was alright. House Stark and anything with Tyrion Lannister interests me here, and the book was fantastic on focusing on that..... But it also dragged in the middle. It's also irritating to introduce these characters just to kill them off in like 4 chapters.

This masterpiece was written in less than 2 years! Revisiting Westeros has been one hell of an experience!
