This one doesn't hit quite the same highs as book 12, but it's still solid. Sanderson is given the unenviable task of making sense of the last eight books of Perrin neglect. He winds up giving his arc a soft-reboot in order to do so. I know a lot of fans dislike this, but I think it works well enough and I prefer it to the useless plotlines Perrin has gotten since his triumph at the end of book four. Mat's chapters were probably the weakest part of book 12 but Sanderson manages to right the ship here and delivers a great payoff to the Tower of Ghenjei saga. Overall a solid book and I'm looking forward to finally bringing this monster series to a conclusion.

I definitely prefer Sanderson books in the series.

Good enough! Keep them coming!
slow-paced

Man, this is still so slow. I can't even care about Perrin anymore after all this time. Rand, Egwene and Mat still shine through, but I'm just looking forward to the end.

This was a re-read.  I originally listened years ago when it first came out.

I feel like this is a continuation of book 12 The Gathering Storm with different characters, once again plots that have ran over several books now are brought to an end and we see our main characters move into the ready for the finale, I liked the end of Mats plot which acts as a climax to the book, Perrin is also heavy featured, his storyline is pretty good and has a battle which was fun reading, overall I think this is a strong entry and sets up the last book quite well.

The end has come and I am not ready at all. One more book, friends. I am not finished yet but I can already say that what Jordan created here is huge. It is epic, it is exciting, it is complex.

Book 13 was especially satisfying because so many threads were united, things were picked up on that were foreshadowed in earlier books that finally made sense. It is truly a masterpiece.

I don’t want it to end. :(

I liked it better this time around, though the pacing and the timelines are screwed up compared to what I would expect from previous books.
