My first Conquer a Classic and it did not disappoint! Not sure I have the words yet for this one, but Larry McMurty carried on for 850+ pages, so a lot has already been said ;)

The narrator did not engage me. And the read Gus and McCall opposite than the tv-series. I could not relate to their personas.
Gave it a real good try, I just kept rolling my eyes and couldn’t take it seriously

My first Western. Read for 3 reasons: (1) Highly recommended by Marv, his favorite book; (2) a young woman on TikTok said it broke her heart; and (3) I wanted to close out 2024 feeling accomplished by reading something beefy. A slow start, and then suddenly I was swept away with the depth of the characters and the prose. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this read - this broke my heart and is one of the best books I've read in a while.
