Deeply disturbing, powerful within the contraints of two characters who were very well constructed. Miranda was so real to me, the ending left me honestly feeling empty

So dark. So painful to read. Miranda's words about her will to live are stuck in my head. Just heartbreaking.

Men ...

This was horrifying yet gripping. Friedrich's mind is so warped and the way he tries to justify his actions by claiming other men would do much worse is terrifying. All the men in this book are awful.

'He said, men are vile.

I said, the vilest thing about them is that they can say that with a smile on their faces.'

This book was engulfing to the extent that I felt suffocated with this impending sense of dread and despair that was just oozing from the pages. Yet, a fascinating book that questions class and morality whilst layering with female rage.

'For years he's been looking for something to put his madness into. And he found me.'

Just hauntingly brilliant.

Frederick Clegg walked so Joe Goldberg could run.

On all seriousness though I loved this book.

This book follows a story of a collector (who collects butterflies) and his very unhealthy obsession with a woman. She ends up kidnapped by him, but we get both sides of their inner monologues throughout the 4 parts of the book.

Miranda’s character felt so unbelievably real that I was left speechless at times. Superb characters and their dynamics.
