Though a significant novel in queer literature, I found this hard to love. The pressure of compulsory heterosexuality from society is felt throughout and Maurice's growth to embrace who he is is satisfying. However, I found none of the characters particularly likeable and Alec feels unwritten.

Imagine an Edwardian MLM romcom starring Hugh Grant written by one of the Bloomsbury set. Ripe for its own Bridget Jones’ Diary and completely matched to the current zeitgeist. Obsessed. Will be working through more of E.M. Forster and watching the movie next.
