Nothing happened in this book. Stevie was supposed to be smart but no evidence of that. All the characters were bland. I almost gave up when Stevie kissed David because um why? There was nothing between them or between any of the characters. Stevie is trying to solve the cold case but does literally nothing even when she has access to more evidence than anyone ever. I canЃEЂЃEt believe that this is classed as a mystery/ thriller. Nothing intense happened because nothing happened. It was all set up to what I can only imagine is a disappointing conclusion. There was so much potential but it was so lacklustre.

Loved this YA thriller! Such a cliffhanger - can’t wait to read the rest of the series!
Would have been five stars if literally anything had been resolved by the end of this book. Not a fan of cliffhangers but good enough that I will be reading the next one.

Normally I don’t go for the mystery-type book genre, but this book was great!! The concept is so cool and you really CANNOT tell who Truly Devious is, so you’re trying to solve the mystery right alongside the main character. Speaking of the main character, I love Stevie!! She has a great personality and I look forward to seeing her relationships with the other characters deepen in the following books. Usually I don’t vibe with the “switching between the past and present” device, but I thought it was done extremely well in this book. Every time we delve into the past, we learn something new about the original mystery, which is super cool. The only thing I would mention is that the actual mystery aspect of it doesn’t really get going until about halfway through the book, but since the whole thing is spread across three books, it makes sense not to go full-force into it right away. I honestly have no idea where the story is going to go from here, but I’m excited to find out!!
Absolutely amazing. one of the best mysteries I've read in a very long time. Literally read this book in about 24 hours, it was that spellbinding.
medium-paced
Oh no, I have to wait at least a year to get more.
Oh fiddle, I'll never remember all the details I need to recall.

After those scattered thoughts I can say, I only had one complaint about the book. I loved it overall, and I would recommend.
