This was AMAZING!! I love mysteries, so the fact that I had not read that book yet was ridiculous. I love every part of this; from the flashbacks, to the boarding school setting, to the dual mystery element. It was so, so good and I can’t wait to read the second one when I buy it in New York!

the mystery was pretty good for a ya mystery novel but what was the ending
Big ol' house with secret tunnels, a teenage sleuth, and a mystery. What more could a reader weaned on Nancy Drew ask for?
This reads like a YA novel - a good one! Enjoyed three of the series but burnt out and didn't go any further.
Audio was Fair. Some characters sounded alike.

I will not be purchasing the 2nd book in this series (I'm assuming there's a second book). This book took me on a Rollercoaster and whirlwind of emotions regarding the 2 big mysteries in the book (the Ellington kidnapping, and Hayes' murder) just for both of them to NOT be solved. It's not only that it didn't feel finished, but it didn't feel developed enough for the great plot it had. I feel like the book should have been longer. Although the plot is amazing, I don't understand why it unfurled the way it did. There was no climax or resolution.
this was such a fun mystery. i really like stevie in this one, and think she was interesting to follow around. i enjoy that there's a semblance of consequences to them breaking school rules too- that always breaks my suspense of disbelief. the historical aspects are super fun too, and i find myself more interested in that mystery than the one happening in real time. interested to see where this leads!
