Pace was weird. Nothing happens until the middle of the book and at that point I unfortunately couldn’t be bothered.

książka sama w sobie dość ciekawa. szybko się ją czyta ale jak dla mnie jest w niej za dużo wątku romantycznego.

I do not recommend reading unless you’re ready for a very, very slow mystery; lots of pointless flashback scenes; an annoying romance subplot; laughably shallow politics; and a lot of teenagers being stupid while being told that they’re exceptional.

I am probably being unfair as this is a book that is not for me. I am not a teenager, and I am not a mystery fan. That said, I do like a good mystery and I’ve always had a soft spot for boarding school books. This was not a good mystery. Nor was it a good boarding school novel. Nor a good romance.

The characters were somehow both bland and caricatures of people. I was immensely frustrated to learn this was a series about 75% of the way through as I will not be reading the sequels and I was mildly interested in finding out what happened to the family way back when. It’s okay, though—I won’t lose any sleep not knowing.

Uhm. I didn't care.

Maybe I just wasn't paying attention but I really don't care.

Overall, I found this to be a decent start to the trilogy. It did feel a bit stretched out to fit into three books. I loved the moody, secluded campus and I wanted more of that world building!
