#2 of the LORD series and it’s amazing as well! Sin is amazing although sometimes may take it a bit too far. He also does everything he can to make Elli his. I love me some unhinged stalker vibes and Sin has that going on. It doesn’t quite beat the Ritual but was still SOO good and I highly recommend giving this series a try!

Love it

I read the ritual and then this and now I can't wait to read tysons book.. He intrigued me from the very first book in the lords series... But wait carnage?? Oh I need to know their story too!

I would almost feel ashamed about how much I liked this book, had a large theme not been about accepting yourself and your desires, especially regarding trauma responses. Rarely do books really delve into the psychology of trauma survivors in this way, and even more rarely do they discuss how sexual trauma impacts one's sexual preferences.

People are often hesitant to discuss the sort of taboo kinks that this book features heavily, particularly CNC and intense BDSM. I really appreciated Elli's POV in this, especially the parts where she reflected on her trauma and sexuality. Some parts were definitely difficult emotionally, but her perspective resonated with me in a way little else has.

Regarding the writing style, I found this book easy to read and hard to put down. It wasn't flowery or poetic, and didn't try to be something it wasn't. The simplicity of the writing suited the novel, and I feel that much else would have felt incongruous or out of place.

If you are a survivor of sexual assault (especially CSA) or domestic violence, proceed with caution. It's practically impossible to skip or gloss over the violent/sexual scenes without missing major plot points and important context.

Review!

Book 2 of The LORDS Series. I was disappointed by this book compared to the first. I enjoyed the spice of this book for sure but the plot not near as much. Don’t get me wrong, it was still a good read! I loved Ellington and everything she went through was written so well. Sin, now he had his moments but he definitely didn’t do it for me like Ryat. Again, not a bad read but definitely not what I was expecting either.

Ok, I thought I Ryat was one of my top book boyfriends. Nope, that was until I meat Easton Sinnett! Oh! My! God! This man is delicious! When we say this book is a dark romance, we mean this is a DARK romance. Please check your triggers! I loved everything about this book. I ate it up. I couldn’t put it down. I think Shantel has moved up to one of my top favorite, if not my top favorite dark romance authors! Well done! I cannot wait to read the rest!

“I realize I’d do anything for him. To be his little demon. When I burn the world down and they ask me why, I’ll tell them the devil asked me to do it. And I wanted to make him proud.”

So I still liked Ryat better although Sin was something else. I think the trauma what Elli went through just made this story a harder pill to swallow in general. She was a hot mess and needed someone possibly less unhinged than Sin but her we are just living in Shantel’s universe. I can get behind how he tried to sacrifice everything for her which saves this book from all the insanity. Much harder read than The Ritual though
