With an ending like that we better not bloody be waiting another 7 years for the next installment!

Lots of cliffhangers in this book, but nothing is concluded.

Also, Jamie and Claire seem to have gotten a lot more friskier in their old age.

The cliffhanger! Now that I've caught up with the Outlander series, I probably got to wait another six years for the "final" book.
I really enjoyed this one. Sadly I still don't care about William or John Grey, enjoyed all the found family happenings that were in this, and the King Mountain scene had me gasping.
Trigger Warnings: animal death, blood, child abuse, child death, chronic illness, bear attack, death, domestic abuse, emotional abuse, graphic injuries, gore, grief, gun violence, homomisia, medical content, graphic medical trauma, mental illness, miscarriage mentioned, murder, misogyny, physical abuse, racism, rape mentioned, sexism, sexual assault, sexual violence, slavery, v*mit and violence

I have always liked her writing style and enjoyed the mix of drama and domestic scenes, but there was no real momentum in this, and it feels like it has become too sprawling.

Not as good as MOBY. Very little plot progression, more fan service that wasn't quite delivered. Still love the characters and the world. Kept looking forward to William reuniting with Jamie, but put off until the next book.

This book didn’t really dig in and get interesting until the last 100 pages- and then right as you can’t put it down, there’s a cliffhanger and none of it is resolved. Will it be another 7 years till we find out what’s going to happen? 800 pages of warm up to get to the “to be continued” was entertaining but intensely unsatisfying. I really should’ve gone back and re-read the others first because it’s been so long I spent at least 500 pages trying to recall what’s happened! I’ll read what I assume will be the last but - argh. This felt like the novel version of clickbait.
