Book 2 is split into two very different parts.
⭐ 3.5 overall (Part 1: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ / Part 2: ⭐⭐⭐)
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Part 1 is just dark — no romance here, just intensely graphic non-consensual acts, torture, and murder. This isn’t the fun dark romance spice... it’s just dark.
🌶️🌶️🌶️ Part 2 brings some decent scenes at the end, but a few felt weirdly flat. Maybe Part 1 broke me and I should’ve taken a breather before diving into the second half...
Let me start by saying this: I wanted to love this. I really did. After Haunting Adeline, where we fell in love with a stalker, I was ready for this to go darker, get grittier, and deliver that satisfying sequel high. But what I got was… half of that.

Part 1? Dark. Traumatizing. Horrific. Beautifully written. I was emotionally wrecked and glued to the page. Addie’s time in that trafficking house? Brutal. Heartbreaking. Haunting (pun very intended). It’s a full arc that honestly could’ve been its own standalone book — and I would’ve devoured it.

Part 2? That’s where the wheels wobbled. I wanted to see Zade help her heal. And while I appreciate the author not rushing Addie’s recovery, the pacing was sluggish. Scenes felt repetitive, some subplots just… evaporated (what happened to the ghost? Or the little girl who wanted Zade as her dad?!), and the spice? Meh. Diminished returns. I felt more emotionally connected to her trauma than to the romance — which, in a romance book, is not ideal.

That said, one scene? Absolute perfection. You know the one — the scar/knife/mirror moment. Breathtaking. Chef’s kiss. That’ll live rent-free in my brain forever.

Zade? Still hot. Still that dark, morally-black guy with a knife. But I’m not adding him to my book husband list. He can stay a book boyfriend for the rest of y’all. I’ve got others waiting in line.

So, would I recommend the duet? Yes — especially if you’re into dark romance and can handle the heavy trigger content (seriously, read the warnings). Just know: the second book doesn’t land quite like the first.

Adeline pissed me off way too much in this to give it anything higher than 3, even that's being generous I think.

DID NOT FINISH: 50%

Did not like, was not into the forced romance while he somehow saved other women from sex trafficking then forced FMC to be with him
