Wicked

Honestly, I feel emotionally exhausted! I need a minute to digest so I’ll come back & write a proper review but wow that was incredible…

Preferred this to book 1 in the duet, very dark & read more like a horror/thriller in the first half which although gruelling, was really well done. Got a bit bored with the smut in the second half though

Alright, listen. I don’t know whether to scream into a pillow or take a long, contemplative walk in the woods. This book was a lot, and I mean A LOT. It felt like my brain was being waterboarded with insanity, and yet… I kept turning the pages like some unhinged gremlin who couldn’t look away.

The writing? Addictive. The plot? A fever dream dipped in gasoline and set on fire. The characters? They need so much therapy that I don’t even know where to begin. And me? I need a moment. Maybe a snack. Definitely therapy.

It wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t great. It was like watching a car crash in slow motion.. you can’t condone it, but you must see how it ends.

Three stars because I survived, but at what cost?

Four stars because the first half is better than the entire first book. Check the trigger warnings, this book gets dark. Once again, the MMC is arrogant and over the top, the narcissism is palpable. It got to the point where I just skipped over the smut all together because it was just so ridiculous.
