However, I must emphasize that this book contains many triggering and dramatic elements. For those who have experienced any form of sexual or physical trauma, I advise caution before diving in. That said, I've come across articles suggesting that reading stories of resilience can aid in healing, and this book does offer a journey of overcoming adversity.
Having been fortunate enough to experience healthy and consensual relationships, I found the book's themes both compelling and captivating. The suspense reminded me of the excitement of the movie "Taken," but with an added layer of romance as a lover embarks on a quest to rescue his soulmate. The chemistry between Zade and Addie is electric, and I loved how they supported each other in their healing journeys.
The first half of the book had my heart racing with its thrilling plot twists, while the second half brought a warmth that left my cheeks flushed. I think it transcends the typical dark romance genre; it is a well-crafted suspense thriller that resonates on multiple emotional levels. If you're a fan of exhilarating plots combined with passionate connections, then read it. Also, low-key recommend listening to the audiobook after reading it or at least some chapters because Teddy Hamilton reading as Zade is just sooo….
