I devoured this book so quickly! With it being a baseball player, and pop star, this reminded me of Taylor Swift and a certain Chiefs baller. I loved that they continued to develop their instant attraction to one another through calls and texts, and they became each other’s person. It was cool to explore the aspects of a retiring professional athlete and aspects of the intensity of security for someone with large amounts of media attention. I picked up this title solely for the cover and fell in love with the author’s writing. Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for this free eARC.

As a baseball fan, this book was hard to read.
It is impossible to strike out in both the 6th inning and the 7th inning without your team scoring a run. The author also clearly doesn't understand how the playoffs work.
And not finding out how the World Series goes for Jimmy felt like a waste to read this book.

This was a fun sports romance book that also had a lot of heavy, serious moments. It was beautifully written. But I just could not get past the comparisons to Taylor/Travis. It kept throwing me out of the book. I was provided an advanced copy of this book which has not affected yet my review.

Look this is clearly Taylor Swift fan fiction. However the bigger issue is that there are zero resolutions in this book. Like things just get glossed over. A fight happens they don’t talk to each other for a couple of days one text the other one, boom everything is good again and the cycle continues. We never get any insight on any thing else that was set up. This feels like a rough draft that’s missing several chapters. It also just felt like the FMC was written to justify everything Taylor Swift has ever done in the eyes of the public. They do this by giving the main character a complicated relationship with her alcoholic mother, no father, a terrible ex-boyfriend (who works at SNL?) poor relationships with her coworkers, having no friends. which to be fair is a lot but how does this get resolved? It doesn’t. She just says I need to make this better and then she doesn’t. They don’t give her time to do that, they don’t make time for anything really. Like please call an editor let’s workshop this again.
Jimmy and Lacey. Travis and Taylor. DNF
I recieved an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
When the biggest pop star in the world and a top baseball player start dating, nothing is easy. This is clearly Taylor and Travis, but the dialog is fun and clever, and the problems are realistic. I wish this was longer and more in-depth, but for a "lay on the couch and read it in one sitting" book, it's pretty great.

This book made me so angry. I had high expectations for this book, but the utter lack of resolution in any of the story lines drove me nuts. I wanted to hear more about her relationship with her mom, I wanted to hear more about his relationship with his ex, just to name a few. I was SHOCKED when it ended. Obviously this was based off of Taylor and Travis' relationship but I felt like the execution could have been much better.
✅ Baseball ⚾️ x popstar romance
✅ Lacey Logan, 32, international popstar in her prime (think Taylor Swift) & Jimmy Hodges, 37, baseball player (catcher) for the Baltimore Orioles in his last season before retirement
✅ If you’re enchanted by the whole Taylor-Travis romance you will enjoy this
✅ Under 300 pages
✅ lot of Ohio shoutouts - Lacey grew up in Cincinnati
🌶️: yes but partial fade to black. Meaning, if you’re picking this up for 🌶️, this is the wrong book
My biggest issue with this book is that it ends too soon 😆
This is all written in present tense, which I absolutely LOVE!
